A field trip of tutor group 7a to the “Open Heart” project by Joseph Marr at Park am Gleisdreieck
Joseph Marr is a very talented artist from Australia who lives and works in Berlin. Me and my class 7a visited one of his sculptures called „Open Heart“ in Berlin Gleisdreieckpark on Thursday, the 19th September 2024.
On this day me and each student of my class drew a picture of his sculpture and Joseph Marr signed it. It was a really nice day and the sun was shining. The sculpture is very impressive because it is 3,5 meters tall and it’s made from around 800 kg of sugar.
If you are now thinking that the sugar sculpture would melt, you are right! It does melt but the artist has installed some bikes and solar panels that are connected to the glass cage. If people ride the bikes the energy will go into the battery that’s in the cage to cool the inside.
The exhibition was opened on the 11th of September and it closed on the 6th of October.
