Our LK English trip to Edinburgh

Edinburgh (pronounced ´Edinboro`), a city driven by the spirit of its university students, historic buildings, and of course the always friendly and nice Scotsmen, (right, Mr. Kremming?:-) as well as the tons of young student groups from all over Europe, celebrating their graduation or just celebrating the end of junior year like we did.

After a relaxing flight (with two exceptions, Ali and Nino, for whom it was the first time ever on a plane), we reached Edinburgh on 12 July, where the group morale dropped quickly connected with Mr. Kremming announcing that the curfew would be 11pm. Seriously? 11? But the next day we realized that 11pm may not even be that bad due to the packed schedule we had every day.

So, the first full day we climbed like British legend King Arthur before, Arthur´s Seat, a mountain right in the heart of Edinburgh. The reward for the long climb, which some surely enjoyed and really couldn’t stop asking if we would want to climb that hill again another day (Leon???) – meanwhile others really struggled – was a beautiful view over the city with its parks and the Castle of Edinburgh sitting over all the roofs of this small but very interesting city. Combined with another hill climb and a little sightseeing tour we wrapped up the day in the hostel´s lobby at curfew time 11 and of course all went to sleep immediately;-)

A bike trip throughout the entire city of Edinburgh was scheduled for Friday. Meanwhile we got a little more used to the sometimes incomprehensible Scottish accent. On the trip some of us didn’t get behind how not to fall while riding a bike… Even athletes like Berkay and Till couldn’t hold onto their bike occasionally. And Mr. Kremming and Nilay…lol. A selfmade dinner was the last group activity on Friday. During the preparation misunderstandings how and even why to cook occurred, but overcoming all those difficulties made the meal taste even better. Besides for Till cause he was late -> no food.

On the 3rd full day of our stay we went on a field trip to St. Andrews where the golf sport came to exist. After a short game of putt putt golf, 3 iron heroes decided to go swimming in the freezing sea. Definitely no need to do that again! A little snack at a Turkish place came with the trip for some, as well as a shopping trip did for others (as always).

On the last day we visited a small food market and could use the rest of the day for other activities which rounded up a very nice trip to Scotland, to the beautiful city of Edinburgh.

A big thanks to Mr. Kremming and Ms. Flossbach for taking care of us on the trip.

Till Saremba
